Water Powered Car Demonstrated? Thursday, September 27, 2007 - Sarah Gingichashvili Home >> News >> Green Technology
|
Denny Klein, an inventor from Florida, has introduced the world’s first water powered car. His own 1994 Ford Escort, labeled “Hydrogen Technology”, can run on a combination of water and gasoline, and Klein says it is possible to develop a system powered purely by water. The prototype is a hybrid car, shown to drive 100 miles using 4 ounces of water, without losing power. "You just drive it like a regular car. The infrastructure is already in place to get it serviced so we don't have to reinvent the wheel," Klein said.

Klein’s “Aquygen” is water or H2O broken down and turned into HHO gas – a process that scientists previously considered impossible to implement. A small device was demonstrated to emit a flame hotter than the surface of the Sun; A flame so intense it can burn a hole through charcoal and turn a brass ball to glowing liquid metal within seconds. While steel, lead, and other metals slice on contact, the tip of the welder remains only slightly warm to touch. Klein says that people don’t believe him, even though it’s a natural electrolysis process. It requires a greater amount of water than the amount of HHO gas produced, but the resulting gas combines the atomic power of hydrogen and the chemical stability of water. “No other gas will do this” –he says. Klein and his colleagues are planning to provide a cheap, eco-friendly and practical alternative fuel, which will end the world’s dependence on fossil fuels. An engine that runs on a gasoline-water mix burns 50-percent less gasoline. "The way the water molecule is restructured, it releases a tremendous amount of energy when mixed with a catalyst. The Aquygen can easily be turned back into H2O” - said Klein as he pointed at drops of water running off a sheet of metal. A representative from Klein’s company said that the fuel production cost is estimated at around 70 cents per hour, with 1,500 liters of Aquygen produced in an hour.
The technology is still undergoing various government and independent tests, and company managers say it will be ready to hit the market in about 2 years. In response to the reports, many critics argued that the story is a complete hoax, saying that the energy required to convert H2O to HHO is greater than that provided by burning Aquygen. Others have raised concerns about the long term impact of such an energy source on the car engine. In 1995, several shows aired a report about Stanley Meyer – an inventor from Ohio, who also claimed to invent a water fuel cell, which was demonstrated on his dune buggy, powered by water alone. Meyer passed away in 1998, and many say he received threats from oil companies and was poisoned after refusing to abandon his technology.
TFOT recently covered several hydrogen related topics, including a new hydrogen powered bike from China, Ford's Fusion Hydrogen 999, 500-horsepower fuel cell race car, and a new research at Purdue University in Indiana on a method that uses an aluminum alloy to extract hydrogen from water. You can watch a video demonstrating Klein’s invention here and read about Meyer’s invention here. |

I actually find the whole thing very interesting even if it is a hoax. Do note that Sarah wrote: "many critics argued that the story is a complete hoax...". We do not accept this blindly (or even at all) however in the very slim chance that there is something here - this is worth mantioning. Anyway if this is indeed a hoax of some sort it is also worth mentioning (and your link is helpful) in debunking the hoax and prevent people from thinking this is real. |

Dont be stupid and say something doesnt work when you have never tried it yourself i for one believe why? well for one if you take a glass of water and a battery put the batery in the water with a baggy over it in about an hour walla hydrogen fills that back and you can take it off and burn it very simple experiment for you idiots out there so that being said it only stands to reason that using more electricity can produce hydrogen at a faster rate now there are some things you have to consider which i am not going to go into right now however i am currently experimenting on my own making a hydrogen hybrid just using your car/car battery gas/water mixture dont say something cant work just cause you dont understand it truth is out there peace. |

Don't forget to count if you spend less money producing hydrogen than the benefits you recover from using it! |

how much energy do you need to produce one liter of this "HHO"? How mutch of this energy can be regained when it is burned. How is it stored, or is it produced while the car is driving? is the secret soley the high temperature? This article diddnt help me at all to understand the basic conzept. |

Lets say it is all afake story to get attention, but even if it is why not try and make it true. it would be great to have acar that runs on water. Pluse if it is true then we could take it from where it was left and turne it into something big. |

This is completly true and fisible technology ,as a matter of fact water powered engines designed all over the world dating back to 20 years and all of them silenced with money or other ways, i witnessed this incident myself when a colegue of my uncle who is nuclear engineer(designing x-ray machines for ship builders) builded a simple convertion machine which produced %55-60 horsepower of original engine using only water(not hybrid)and get death threats shortly afterwards from very well known unknown! sources and had to abandon his project,some unlucky ones actually implemented the system in car and even call a tv station and make live demonstration, and few days later they were lost! ,go search \"peak oil\" on internet ,oil is 102$ per barrel today it will become unusable when it reach 140~$ ,you will see more and more miracle project coming out as we get close to 140$ per barrel. |

How much does it cost to find,harvest,pipe,ship(across the ocean),take to refinery,covert to gasoline,then distribute? That has to cost alot! |

This is an accurate story. I have seen this in action. As for the comment that "it the energy required to convert H2O to HHO is greater than that provided by burning Aquygen" is total rubbish especially because the entire thing can be powered by solar technology costing nothing but the startup equipment. See-ya oil companies!! |
|||
|
|||
|
yes you can run hydrogen into your engine with a battery and water. Its just like taking the engine power to make a turbo run and throwing more air into the engine. Yes they do work and yes you can get better gas milage. Car makers would use this but turbos for your car work better. They dont make turbos for every car because it would make the price higher. the government or oil companies dont care what u do. |

Can we run our car with water and gas? Can anybody tell me is the HHO Gas is real working or is another scam? |
|||
|

i think the first ever car that can run with water as fuel (no gasoline needed) was first introduced in the Philippines in as early as 1969. it was invented by Daniel Dingel. You can watch the demonstration here: http://noypie.blogspot.com/2008/04/water-powered-car.html |

I've been doing some research into water powered car the process appears to be the same that the navy use to make oxygen on submarines so i don't see why you can't use the hydrogen as an add on fuel source. |

As automation technology and Cargo Liners has progressed, especially in the decades after the invention of the integrated circuit, more and more functions have been added to automobiles, relieving the driver of much of the mundane moment-to-moment decision making that may be regarded as having made driving tedious. |

The big catch with this system is that you will need to coat your cylinders with ceramic and replace the valves with stainless steel. This does not violate the second law of thermo. Internal compustion engines are at best 37% efficient. There is plenty of energy available for use. I could see this working, like the way salt peter and sulfer make coal burn realy fast when ground into a powder (gun powder). |

Danny Kliens car here uses normal "gas" with his electrolyser. The products include water vapour as well as "HHO" (Browns gas). Inso adding these gasses his engine burns much better and on top of that he can set his "gas" mix to run leaner. His valves not burning out due to a lean mix are offset by the water vapour absorbing some of the heat of the flame front to produce dry steam and produce even greater expansion of gasses. A true win-win situation. |

2 years later folks, and where's this tech? Its still ONLY in this guy's head - it does not exist outside of that crazy world. If it were feasible to break water down into its constituent gasses and then burn it *efficiently* we would be doing it. Electrolysis takes a butt load of energy, its inescapable. Hydrogen powered cars will likely exist at some point, but they aren't going to use cathodes to break water down to achieve it unless there's some "free" energy (solar?) entering the system. |
