What a carefully worded con job. NASA does use satellites to “collect” temperature data, but this is data from ground stationed thermometers, NOT the actual temperature data that the satellites provide. Satellite instruments are highly more accurate and evenly cover 98% of the earth, whereas ground based weather stations are more susceptible to uneven coverage, error and manipulation. While it is true that NASA uses the actual satellite measurements for Sea Surface temperatures, they then manipulate the data beyond recognition to compensate for what James Hansen claims to be a cooling bias. So why does NASA refuse to use more accurate tools at their disposal? You guessed it. They could not possibly make the claims they have been making. By doing an “end around” the satellite data gives them the ability to pick and choose weather station data which agree with their agenda of scaring the public into buying into their “warming” scare tactics. I\'ve been plotting Hansen\'s data for quite a while now and have found that he “adjusts” numerous early temperature anomalies cooler, while increasing later temperatures warmer on a monthly basis. How do you think that these claims have been ever more dire? Don\'t be fooled. NASA is claiming more than twice the global warming than is actually happening. You don\'t have to believe me. If you were to check the entire 31+ year satellite data set, http://vortex.nsstc.uah.edu/data/msu/t2lt/tltglhmam_5.3 you would find that global temperatures have increased by less than 14 one hundredths of one degree per decade. Hardly enough to scare the public into a frenzy as Hansen has been able to do with is fraudulent claims. This corruption of the temperature record has poisoned the entire climate science profession. Garbage in-garbage out. Mark my words. At some point the deception will be exposed. It can\'t be contained forever. Once the “believers” discover that they have been had, they\'re not going to be too happy, not to mention the taxpayer\'s, at whose expense billions have been wasted. One can only guess as to what motivates NASA to panic the public by embellishing and torturing the data to such an extent. One thing is for certain. It shows how scientists are human and not above losing their sense of objectivity. Objectivity. ‘Scientists are not as objective as their traditional image implies. Although science has built into it many safeguards for encouraging objectivity, scientists are still human like everyone else. They have unconscious, if not conscious, notions about what the results of an experiment should be. These notions often influence not only the design of the experiment but also the gathering and interpretation of the data. Some scientists begin to \"believe,\" not just use, certain pet theories and they become so emotionally attached to the theories that they lose their objectivity. Some scientists play politics and some are affected by profit motives, budgets, fads, wars, and religious beliefs. This is not to say that scientists do not strive for objectivity, but only that they might not always attain it.’ (Zumdahl) |
