Researchers at the Interdisciplinary Centre for Computer Music Research (ICCMR) at the University of Plymouth, UK have developed intelligent musical robots capable of learning music by interacting with other robots and people. The robots in this video – Tom, Dick and Harry – are programmed with a hearing system, a voice synthesizer, and a "brain" that learns to make connections between the hearing and vocal systems. At this stage the robots can only sing random-like tunes, but are already capable of evolving their own musical language by singing to each other. (Source: ICCMR)
