The Milky Way, sometimes called simply the Galaxy, is the galaxy in which our Solar System is located. It is a barred spiral galaxy that is part of the Local Group of galaxies, which comprises about 30 galaxies (including dwarf galaxies), with its gravitational center located somewhere between the Milky Way and the Andromeda Galaxy. The Milky Way is one of billions of galaxies in the observable universe. In this video, Dr. Michelle Thaller of the Spitzer Science Center reveals what is the nearest galaxy to the Milky Way.
