Via Technologies recently announced its Surfboard C855 Reference Design, an ultra-compact mainboard which incorporates the company’s VX855 chipset and is primarily aimed at the growing netbook market. According to VIA, this design will sport 8-channel HD audio and will be able to handle high bit-rate 1080p full HD video playback while utilizing less than 40 percent of CPU resources. Furthermore, the device will reportedly support up to 1366 x 768 internal and 1920 x 1440 external display resolutions, and will be equipped with Bluetooth, WiFi, GPS, and 3G connectivity.
