This Android-based robot, which was developed by Jeffrey Nelson of Macpod Software, can be controlled from any spot in the world through regular cell phone data networks. In this video the inventor demonstrates “Forknife” using T-Mobile’s G1 as the robot’s control unit. The code used to operate “Forknife” is freely available online, and Nelson says anyone with some basic knowledge in robotics can give it a try and construct a home-made robot of their own. While “Forknife” doesn’t do much at this point, it does wave its fork and knife quite fiercely while rotating around an unsuspecting cupcake.
