An innovative wireless charging technology was introduced by the Israeli-based company “Powermat” at CES 2009. The technology allows users to charge and power all their electrical devices wirelessly from a single mat, which can be embedded in a variety of surfaces such as kitchen counters and office desks. Utilizing principles of magnetic induction, Powermat transmits electrical power via an ultra-thin mat to electronic devices placed on it. This technology can be used by virtually any CE device, and its inventors say it will “revolutionize the way we receive and transmit energy in our homes, businesses, educational institutions, and other environments that currently rely on access to multiple electrical outlets to receive power.”
