At a recent news conference, Toyota has demonstrated its "Robina" robot; designed for face-to-face communication with humans, this machine senses the direction of incoming sound and turns its head accordingly. "Robina,” which doesn't require any external operators, can autonomously navigate its way through obstacles, write, and "understand" as many as 20,000 words. The robot has already been used by the company to serve as a guide at the Toyota Kaikan Exhibition Hall in Toyota City.
