The Franklin Institute was founded in 1824 as the first professional organization of mechanical engineers and professional draftsmen in the United States. Its main focus is public science and technology education. The site features educational programs such as discovery camp, field trip planner, and spring break camp. In addition, there is information on various exhibits including the Star Wars Exhibit, The Giant Heart exhibit, the Space Command exhibit, and many more.
