The Extropy Institute, closed in late 2006, was the original force behind the global cultural movement of trans-humanism. This institute claims to serve as a think tank ideas market for the future of social change brought about by consequential technologies. The site features links to different websites with suggested reading material, as well as a list of recommended trans-humanism organizations and groups. The site has active forums and an Extropy-chat email list, which is open to the public. The institute's current project is The Proactionary Principle project, designed to offer new ways to evaluate the opportunities and dangers posed by advances in the fields of nanotechnology, genetics, artificial intelligence, and so on.
