The new ASUS P565 is using the
Marvell PXA930 CPU, which runs at a clock-speed of 800MHz. The phone also includes 256MB of ROM and 128MB DDR SDRAM. The P565 uses ASUS’
Glide Interface on top of the familiar Microsoft Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional. These combine to offer users a finger-friendly UI layer, over the 2.8-inch VGA display. For those who prefer operating their phone without leaving finger stains, a stylus is also provided.
The P565 supports all the latest networking protocols including HSDPA, UMTS, EDGE, GPRS, and GSM, and its communication capabilities are enhanced by its Wi-Fi support (802.11b/g). Other connectivity options include USB and Bluetooth. Among the multimedia features offered, users can find a 3.0-megapixel camera and a front facing 300K-pixel camera for video calls. The device’s internal storage can be extended using a Micro-SD which supports SDHC.
The P565 is fairly sleek measuring only 102 x 60.5 x 16 mm, and it's slightly lighter than some of its competitors, weighing only 120 grams. In comparison, Apple’s iPhone weighs 133 grams,
Samsung’s OMNIA weighs 127 grams, and the
HTC Touch HD weighs 146.4 grams. Despite its weight it comes with a fairly powerful 1300mAh Li-Ion battery which offers long standby and talk time: 300 hours standby and 4 hours talk time (6 hours for 2G calls), according to the ASUS specifications.
