HTC Touch HD
HTC recently launched the new high-end HTC S740 SmartPhone which offers some of the latest features, including advanced interface and a full keyboard, meaning users could sends text-messages and e-mails with more ease and read them on the device large, high quality screen.

With a 2.4-inch backlight LEDs QVGA display (240x320 pixels resolution) the new device might not have the size or resolution of the HTC Touch Diamond but it should still offer users a decent screen size given its unique design. The S740 comes with 256MB SDRAM (and 256MB Rom) a 528MHz Qualcomm MSM7225 processor, just like the Diamond, but unlike the Diamond it uses Microsoft Windows Mobile 6 Standard (not the touch enabled Professional version used in many other Pocket PC Phones like the HTC Touch Diamond and Samsung OMNIA among others).

The S740 offers several forms of connectivity. Its Quad-band compatibility ensures users could use roaming services in most countries, while its HSDPA/WCDMA offers the highest speeds available today for cellular data transfer – 384 kbps for uploading and 7.2 Mbps for downloading. Other common connectivity features include Bluetooth 2.0, WiFi and USB 2.0, all giving the S740 different ways to communicate with other devices.

The S740's multimedia features include support of numerous audio formats, such as wav and mp3, and a built in microphone and speaker. Its 3.2-megapixel camera places it just a little above the average camera-phones available today. Other special features include the aforementioned sliding QWERTY keyboard, FM radio, and GPS that can be used along a pre-installed Google Maps application.

The announced battery life depends on the type of network used; using GSM (common in Europe) the standby time is 280 and talking time is 380 minutes, and using WCDMA (common in North America) the official standby time is 400 hours while talking time is 320 minutes. These, of course, will vary according to networks' coverage and usage. The specified dimensions of the S740 are 116.3 x 43.4 x 16.3 mm, 5 mm thicker than the HTC's Diamond – and about 2mm thinner than HTC’s Touch Pro which also includes a sliding QWERTY keyboard.

As noted before TFOT has also covered HTC's flagship phone, the HTC Touch Diamond, which offers an innovative touch-screen based interface called TouchFLO 3D, Sony Ericsson's C905 Cyber-Shot, which offers an 8.1-megapixel camera, and Samsung's OMNIA, which has a stylish interface and design.
