The new Neonode N2, designed by Neonode – a company specializing in the development of intuitive technologies and products, is showcased at the 2008 CES exhibition currently taking place in Las Vegas. In addition to being smaller than a credit card, this user friendly phone/media player has a specially designed optical touch screen and user interface. All features and content can be accessed using seven sweeping movements of the finger, making Neonode N2 a very intuitive device.
The Neonode N2 is equipped with a 2.0" LCD display and a 2 Mega pixel Fixed Focus Camera for still pictures and video play-back (MPEG, WMV). In addition to being an MP3 Player (MP3, WMA, Wav), the Neonode N2 is also a GPRS Quad band phone (850, 900, 1800 and 1900 MHz bands). The Neonode's small dimensions (47x77x14.7 mm) and light weight (approx 60 grams) make it very portable.

An infra red light is projected on its optical punch screen, so that the Neonode N2 can react to the tapping and location of one's finger. The Neonode user interface allows all available options to be carried out with a sweep of a finger, eliminating the use of buttons altogether. The screen displays arrows that indicate the different possible sweeping movements.

Headphones can be plugged in via a standard 3.5 mm plug. In order to download films and music to the Neonode N2 one simply connects the device to a PC and then drags and drops the desired tunes and films into the folder. All data is stored on a MiniSD card. Therefore, users can expand the Neonode's storage space by choosing a MiniSD card with larger capacity (up to 32GB). The price tag on this device is approx. ₤250.

In 2007, TFOT covered several concept phones, including the launch of "Twins" - the world's first WCDMA/GSM dual mode pocket PC phone, the Nokia Eco Sensor Concept - a 'green' mobile phone, and a novel color-matching technology that can be installed in any camera-equipped phone, turning it into a smart beauty advisor. TFOT also covered ASUS' slim and light pocket PC phone (PPC) - P526 - that was showcased at Cebit 2007.

More information on the Neonode N2 is available at the company's website.
