Ever struggle to read the tiny print on a newspaper, map, or worse yet, a legal contract? The New Zealand-based company HumanWare has come out with the perfect solution. Inside a compact (6.5" x 3.6" x 1.4"/166 mm x 90 mm x 35 mm) Pocket PC-like design is a digital magnifying glass using camera technology, capable of up to 7-fold magnification. The PocketViewer boasts full color picture quality for viewing photographs and the like, as well as high contrast display modes (white on black or black on white options) for reading. A digitally magnified image is generated on its 4" color screen by a small camera when the PocketViewer is moved along a text or image. It even has a built-in writing stand for signing checks or jotting down short notes.

The PocketViewer has a built-in rechargeable battery good for two hours of continuous operation, and can also be recharged using an AC adapter that comes bundled with every unit. The portable PocketViewer weighs a mere 300 g (0.7 lbs.) and conveniently comes with a wrist strap clip and a carrying case. The PocketViewer costs about $140 – a bargain for making reading anything from price tags to novels easy again.

More information on the PocketViewer from the HumanWare website.
