Krank is a Portable Scaffolding Winch that can be simply and rapidly secured to any standard Scaffolding configuration and, once connected to a power source, elevate or lower required tools and equipment. My product is designed first and foremost to improve safety and productivity amongst tradesmen (those that work on construction sites i.e. carpenters, bricklayers, builders) and reduce their heavy reliance on ladders for transporting tools and equipment to elevated levels of Scaffolding.
Weighing only 10kg, Krank can lift loads of up to 100kg. The parts and casings of Krank have been pared back to contain only the essential elements needed to meet performance, weight and cost requirements. By reducing and simplifying these parts, manufacturing costs are lowered. In order to withstand harsh working conditions, Krank is designed to be a low maintenance yet highly reliable and durable tool. The majority of casings are moulded from ABS, with the metal sections manufactured from either steel (for parts under the most stress) or Aluminium (for those that are not too stressed but require rigidity) which drastically reduces the weight of the product. With only 3 function buttons to negotiate (up, down and emergency off) the product can be operated simply and efficiently. With a variety of built in safety features, including an upper limit toggle and overloading sensors, Krank ensures the safety of the user at all times. Ladder related injuries have been the most prevalent form of injury on Australian construction sites for a long time and I have managed to identify several reasons why this is so.
