A Belgian firm, Barco, has recently launched the world’s first 6 MegaPixel diagnostic display system, named Coronis Fusion 6MP DL. Users can enjoy the monitor’s 3280 x 2048 native resolution and the diagnostic luminance which is able to provide a DICOM-calibrated luminance of 800 cd/m², allowing for simultaneous reading of color, grayscale, and fused modalities. These combined options also include volume rendered images on the same screen, which aids in making the new display an important tool for diagnostic and other potential applications.

Radiologist Dr. de Leeuw comments on the new display system, stating that, “This makes it a very versatile solution for our multi-modality PACS environment, including X-ray, CT, MRI and other images. Moreover, the system has very wide viewing angle, which will allow us to gather around one display with fellow radiologists to share opinions and jointly develop treatment paths for our patients.”
Richard Sommer, managing partner at the consultancy company H2W, added: “After a hands-on demonstration of the Barco Coronis Fusion 6MP DL, it became self-evident that Barco’s solution offered the best answer for the multi-modality imaging.” Used mainly in radiology, the display system has had rapid success with contracts in USA, Australia, Korea, Belgium, Germany, and France. TFOT covered several advanced display technologies and products, including Sony's XEL-1 OLED TV, IO2 Technology's Heliodisplay Floating Display, and more recently flexible computers that conform to any shape. Additional information on the Coronis Fusion 6MP DL can be obtained at Barco’s website. |
