The breakthrough could suggest which patients have the potential to recover from their injuries or illness, researchers said. Scientists believe that the test could eventually replace or be used in addition to expensive brain scans. The study trained the patients to react to stimulus, even when it was not there. Over and over again the researchers played a musical note and then immediately blew air into a patient’s eye. Over time the patients started to blink after hearing the note.    (source: telegraph.co.uk)
