Here's another reason to despise spam e-mail: It's bad for the environment. According to a study released Wednesday by McAfee Inc., the amount of energy it takes annually to transmit, process and filter spam from around the world is estimated to be equal to the electricity used in 2.4 million homes in a year. Put another way: Those annoying e-mails produce the same amount of greenhouse gas emissions as 3.1 million passenger cars using 2 billion gallons of gasoline.    (source: sfgate.com)
