Card Makers Recall Faulty Nvidia Products?

Due to Nvidia did not clearly explaining the details of the faults reported in its notebook GPUs, some channel vendors have demanded graphics card makers issue a recall for desktop-based discrete graphics cards using the same GPU core, according to sources at graphics card makers. Nvidia has commented that the faulty notebook GPU problem only exists in a few specific notebook models made by specific clients.    (source: tomshardware.com)

its the gpu heat paste and solder... the paste expands the solder
melts the gpu lifts no contact hence dead motherboard

all the same :- hp dv2000 dv6000 dv9000 compaq v6000 and some macs and
toshiba and ibm ... you can reflow the solder and fix the chip to the
board and remove the paste use a 2mm bit of copper as heat plate and
silver artic paste this will drop the temp and should work

when you check all hp recalls and warrenty note:- hp dv2000 where
shipped with v3000 main boards dv6000 = v6000 the tag numbers on the
recall site are all wrong !! check both hp an compaq numbers luv jacj
