Due to Nvidia did not clearly explaining the details of the faults reported in its notebook GPUs, some channel vendors have demanded graphics card makers issue a recall for desktop-based discrete graphics cards using the same GPU core, according to sources at graphics card makers. Nvidia has commented that the faulty notebook GPU problem only exists in a few specific notebook models made by specific clients. (source: tomshardware.com)

all the same :- hp dv2000 dv6000 dv9000 compaq v6000 and some macs and toshiba and ibm ... you can reflow the solder and fix the chip to the board and remove the paste use a 2mm bit of copper as heat plate and silver artic paste this will drop the temp and should work |

when you check all hp recalls and warrenty note:- hp dv2000 where shipped with v3000 main boards dv6000 = v6000 the tag numbers on the recall site are all wrong !! check both hp an compaq numbers luv jacj |
