Mice engineered to have abnormal brain chemistry surprised researchers with their unpredictable deaths - and may be one of the best models yet for sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS), also known as cot death. In a new study published in Science, researchers changed the control of serotonin, a neurotransmitter, in the mice. Serotonin is important in the autonomic nervous system, which controls unconscious functions such as heart beat and digestion.    (source: nature.com)
