Father of Stereo FM Radio Dies at 83

Carl G. Eilers is considered the "Father of Stereo FM Radio and Stereo Television Sound," for pioneering work during his 50-year career at Zenith Electronics LLC. Eilers died suddenly Friday of an apparent heart attack in his River Forest, Ill., home. He was 83. Services are planned for Tuesday in River Forest. A native of Fairbury, Ill., Eilers joined Zenith in 1948 after receiving his bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Purdue University.    (source: foxbusiness.com)
