Students in the Technion’s Faculty of Aerospace Engineering have developed a model for deflecting heavenly bodies that could damage the Earth. The model was developed because of the fear that an asteroid called Apophis could come so close to Earth that it would collide with it in 2036. Nine students took part in the project, under the guidance of Dr. Alexander Kogan from the Asher Space Research Institute, and the project coordinator, Professor Benjamin Landkof.
