Microsoft rode strong sales of its new Kinect game device and its mainstay software products to deliver robust quarterly profits and sales. The world’s largest software company trails behind Apple and Google in fast-growing markets like smartphones and Internet search. But the financial results for its second quarter, which ended in December, show that Microsoft remains a powerhouse in the business market and is benefiting from increased corporate spending as the economy improves.    (source: nytimes.com)
