STS-121 Discovery Launch

Space Shuttle Discovery launch – mission STS-121 – was the third launch attempt in four days after previous ones were scrubbed due to weather concerns. Liftoff was on-time at 2:38 p.m. EDT on July 4th, 2006. The Orbital Insertion Altitude was 122 nautical miles and the Orbit Inclination was 51.60°.

During the 12-day mission, the STS-121 crew of seven tested new equipment and procedures to improve shuttle safety, as well as delivered supplies and made repairs to the International Space Station (ISS). Discovery landed onJuly 17th at Kennedy’s Shuttle Landing Facility.
